Gunakaya Homestay

The pool was beautiful and clean, and the gardens lovely. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The location was perfect for us. Breakfast was very basic, almost a letdown.

We stayed five nights and got one of the refurbished rooms. It was the best room we’ve had across our four trips to Bali and stays in several places. The aircon was great, the bathroom lovely, and the bed comfortable. The kitchenette was nice, though a couple more glasses and mugs instead of small cups would help. The pool was lovely and very quiet. I had it mostly to myself on the three times I went. Breakfast was freshly cooked and fine overall. The fruit plate was the same every day, so some variety would be nice. It was disappointing that pancakes and fried rice weren’t available one day, since I’d have thought they were staples. The plants along the paths could use trimming, and a few more path lights would help when it’s dark and people haven’t switched on their outside lights. Be aware that heavy rain can flood the road badly, so you may have to paddle in and out. Still, a great little place to stay!

We chose this place because of the ratings, though I’d never noticed it during my many trips to Sanur. Really glad we booked. Check-in was easy, and the room was spotless, modern, and beyond what I expected for the price of a New Year stay compared with places we already knew. The AC was ice cold. We haven’t tried breakfast yet, but so far it’s been full marks. Haven’t found anything not to like, and we’ll be back.

It’s set back from the main roads, but getting to the main routes for local attractions is easy. We’re seriously thinking about staying longer in 2026, and after inspecting the rooms, we feel confident putting it at the top of our list.
