InterContinental Bali Sanur Resort by IHG

Breakfast was great, especially the Nasi Campur station, and the staff there were lovely. The new lobby looks beautiful, but the rest of the property feels neglected. At the main pool, only one water feature works, while another one beside it looks derelict. My room was far from reception, and most of the lights along the way were out. I think only about two of the twelve were working by the time we reached it. This wasn't the five-star standard I expected. The property needs attention to bring it up to that level.

I have to give this a one-star rating because of a very serious incident. On the second night, 19/12/2025, my partner and I had drinks and food at Nayala beach club. Within an hour I felt extremely unwell, and a doctor had to come to our suite. I was diagnosed with methanol poisoning, which can be fatal if left untreated. Thankfully the doctor reversed the poisoning. I'm doing okay now, but I'm still struggling to keep food down and have dizziness, abdominal discomfort, and nausea. When we told a staff member and then a manager, all we got was, “Oh, we are sorry.” We tried escalating it to IHG and received the same response. That's unacceptable. We paid a high price for a suite and for drinks and food at the hotel, and this caused a potentially fatal illness. “Sorry” isn't enough. The location is beautiful, the staff are very nice and helpful, and the suite itself was nice. Still, be warned about the food: it's often not fully cooked. The suite also seemed outdated, and we couldn't watch TV or connect our phones to Netflix. We won't return to any IHG resorts or hotels. We expected a higher standard from a five-star hotel. Reni at the spa was lovely, and we want to thank her. Do better, IHG. We're currently seeking legal advice about our options.

Mr. Okta from security made a wonderful first impression when I came for a friend's birthday celebration. He opened the gate warmly and then escorted me all the way to the restaurant, showing real care and initiative. We had afternoon tea, and Ayu, Pasek, and trainee Intan made us feel welcome with service that was sincere, warm, and professional. Their thoughtfulness made the occasion even more special. The whole team reflected strong leadership and training, and I appreciate the management of InterContinental Bali Sanur Resort for maintaining such good service standards. Thank you, Mr. Okta, Ayu, Pasek, and Intan, for making the visit memorable. I wish InterContinental Bali Sanur Resort continued success and many more years of great hospitality.

We first stayed here three years ago and have just returned for another week. The lobby is being renovated, but the grounds remain peaceful and the staff are welcoming. Our room was comfortable, and the breakfast selection was adequate. When we had a shower problem, they dealt with it quickly. The location is convenient, with things within walking distance or a short taxi ride away.
