Merpati - Studios

We used Merpati as a great-value home base while exploring northern Bali and going to Lembongan, and stayed for a month. It was fantastic, and I’d happily recommend it for a short or long stay. The family who run the place are warm and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. There’s an office on site where a family member can help with questions. Our studio had a bedroom, bathroom, and kitchenette, plus either a small upstairs balcony or a ground-floor terrace overlooking the gardens. The kitchenette had a water dispenser and utensils for simple meals. The shower was hot with good pressure, and the AC worked well. Rooms were spotlessly clean and cleaned twice a week. The pool was always refreshing and clean, and very well maintained, though there’s limited seating around it. Merpati is down a small gang on the western side of the bypass, so you’ll need a scooter or GoJek to get around. Sanur’s tourist area is a ten-minute drive away, but there aren’t shops or restaurants close by.

The rooms are spacious, and having a kitchen is a nice bonus. Kieren and Gabriel were so kind and helpful. I stayed for six weeks and loved it. Merpati is close to Sanur Harbour and lots of places to eat. After more than 30 trips to Bali, this is one of my favourite hotels.

We were backpacking and found this an absolute treat at a very affordable price. It felt like a home away from home, and we spent a well here. The Wi-Fi, fridge, and air conditioning were great, the shower was hot with good pressure, and the pillows and bedding were immaculately clean. The pool is lovely, with nice seating areas around it. You’ll need a scooter because it’s set back from the beach and main restaurants, but that also makes it peaceful and quiet.
