OYO 401 The Frog Homestay Sanur

There’s a cute cat and dog who sometimes walk guests in, and the pool is kept in good shape. The rooms are clean and have air conditioning. This cozy, affordable homestay is only minutes from the main attractions, though its little alley is narrow, so a motorbike is the easiest way to explore nearby.

The pool was lovely for relaxing, even if it’s too small for a proper swim, and the location was peaceful but close to cafes, warungs, and the night market. The women in the family or staff were friendly and always smiling. We booked just one night, thankfully. The bathroom was awful. The shower sprayed like a garden hose, the bidet didn’t work, and the drain smelled so bad we held our breath whenever we went in. The room wasn’t comfortable either: old towels, thin blankets, damp patches on the walls, and a broken cabinet. The owner kept pushing expensive transport services. He said his speedboat would cost 900k, while the ferry was 185k one way, and seemed offended when we politely said no. At checkout he scolded us for bringing the keys downstairs and didn’t say goodbye. Their transfer to Sidemen is 900k, while Grab will take you there for 250k. You can find much better accommodation elsewhere.

The room was super comfortable and came fully furnished, with a hygiene kit in the toilet. I loved the little black dog, she’s the cutest I’ve ever seen. The host is lovely and funny, and her family are nice too. The pool was a bit cold, so I didn’t use it.

Right by the Night Market, and the local coffee is good. It’s a really nice homestay, with kind, obliging people and a beautiful, clean pool. Breakfast is simple. They can arrange transport conveniently, at reasonable prices. Good quality for a low to mid budget place 😊
