Pollok and Lemayeur Beach Front Hotel

I've stayed in plenty of budget places, but this was the worst room I've had. We were led past the nicer-looking rooms to one at the back that was filthy, with stained sheets and cobwebs. The shower head was practically over the toilet, and there wasn't even toilet paper. The furniture was literally taped together and falling apart. We wouldn't put our things on the bed because we were afraid of bedbugs. I can't speak for the more expensive rooms, but don't book the less expensive room on Booking. You'll get stuck in that awful back room.

For me, this was the perfect choice. It's more like a family-style guesthouse with local people than a Western-style hotel with all the usual service. We loved the owner and the place right in front of the beach. Maybe we were lucky with our upstairs room, but we really fell in love with this hotel. Greetings, Patrick (Room 23).

My favorite hotel in Bali is in Sanur, on Jl. Hang, next to the beach and an art museum. In the morning, school classes gather on the beach to wait for the sunrise. After coffee, a woman comes by with fruit on her head, selling it for 1000Rp. each. It's the greatest place in Bali for me. We've been there nine times since 1999. The house has lovely staff, especially Mrs. Ayu.

Be careful, this isn't as advertised. The photos show a nicer building with views, a bathtub, and a refrigerator, but that's not what you get. They definitely don't show where you actually stay. The room we got felt like a shifty little crack house, and I can't see how the good reviews could be about the same place where I and several others were put. Our "scam room" had cockroaches, a broken fan, dirty walls, bed, shower, and linen, no air conditioning, and no proper screen to keep bugs out. They don't give refunds, so if you're put in this room instead of the one advertised, tough luck. There are plenty of better options nearby. It isn't worth rolling the dice just to save a couple of bucks.
