RedDoorz near Pantai Sanur Bali

There wasn't even a trash can in the room, and I couldn't find anyone at the front desk to ask for one. The walls looked dirty, the sheets had other people's hair on them, and I woke up covered in bites. The AC rattled the window so loudly that it woke me even through earplugs. I had to switch it off, which was probably just as well because it didn't seem to work anyway. Only stay here if you need an uncomfortable bed for a night.

I had already paid, but when I arrived they said the hotel was overbooked. Without asking me, they sent me to another awful hotel. That was very unprofessional. I saw just a glimpse of this hotel, and the real place looked nothing like the photos. There are plenty of better places nearby, so book somewhere else.

The location in Sanur was handy for the beach, restaurants, cafes, and the port for trips to Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan. Tickets were cheaper at the port than through the travel agencies along the way. I stayed five nights. My room was decent and had AC, but the internet didn't reach it, so I had to sit out on the terrace to get online. That was uncomfortable in the evenings because the mosquitoes bite a lot. The bathroom smelled, so I kept its door shut. The towels and sheets were clean but looked old and unwashed, with holes, so I stopped using them. Staff were almost never around, except around midday.

The quiet and working AC, plus the location near the harbour, were good enough that I booked an extra night. I came with low expectations for a budget stay, and they were met. The room had a bit of mold, the old sheets were stained, and the bathroom smelled and leaked. Wi-Fi barely reached our room, and I had to position my laptop just right. The pool was tiny and tucked into a dark courtyard, so I didn't use it. RedDoorz places have a low standard in my experience, even for the budget price, so this one still surprised me a little.
