Sugiras Living

There are plenty of local food spots and mini-marts within walking distance, and getting picked up from the airport meant I didn't have to hunt for a taxi after arriving. Sugiras Living is run by a family who were so welcoming, and they spoke English very well. As a woman traveling alone, I felt safe and at home. The room was clean, the AC worked well, and everything stayed organized despite the huge rainstorm during my visit. I recommend Sugiras if you want somewhere off the beaten path in Denpasar or near the airport.

Devi was a caring, attentive host. It's a lovely, simple place if all you need is a room, with a clean, bright feel, a comfortable bed, and a nice courtyard.

I had a quiet, pleasant stay in this intimate place, where travelers are often coming and going. The innkeeper was genuinely hospitable and helped make everything go smoothly. It suited me as a peaceful, budget-friendly base for spending time around the island. There's a laundro nearby, along with lots of convenience stores and local eateries, and it works well for getting around the east side. I'd recommend it to travelers after a tranquil, simple place to stay.

The younger woman serving breakfast was pleasant and really helpful, and the other staff were friendly too. Still, I wouldn't stay here again. The room smelled odd when we arrived, and the area was noisy at night with passing bikes, barking dogs, cats yowling, and the owner's car with its extremely loud exhaust. The owner, I think, sat smoking on the front steps in the evenings. Since the doors aren't sealed, we could hear everything and sometimes smell smoke in the room. There was no fridge in the room, though we could use theirs. I think the family lives there, which made it awkward to ask them to keep the noise down. The bed came with two very flat pillows, almost as if we were sleeping without them.
