There’s a balcony at the back, which is a plus, but the villa needs a lot of repairs. The taps leak, and even after waiting five minutes, the hot water still doesn’t really come through. The Wi-Fi is slow, too.

The best part for me was how comfortable the cabin felt inside. The mattress, pillows, and especially the sofa were comfortable, and the kitchen had nearly everything we needed. We just brought groceries and cooking oil, since there wasn’t any. Coffee, tea, sugar, salt, a gallon of water, and a working hot water dispenser were provided. There was no refrigerator in our cabin, though perhaps other cabins at different prices have one. In the bathroom, it took about 5-10 minutes for the water to get hot. It seemed to share one hot water source with another cabin, so simultaneous showers could make it less hot, but it was still usable. We paid around 900,000 Rupiah for our Friday-Saturday visit to Zaa Villa. The access was easy, with a short driveway about 100 meters off the main road and only a little gravel. Signs made it easy to find, and Google Maps was accurate. It’s beside a plantation. When we arrived, some fields were being fertilized with manure, so there was a slight animal pen smell now and then. It bothered us a little, but it wasn’t constant, and we could still enjoy Dieng Plateau’s fresh air. The smell was also milder than fresh livestock manure, so it wasn’t a deal breaker. The cabin has two floors. Downstairs there’s a terrace with two chairs, a living room, dining table, kitchen, a bedroom with a queen bed, and a bathroom with hot water. Shoes and sandals should be brought inside because they can get splashed when it rains. Upstairs there are twin beds, a proper balcony, and two chairs. The view of the Dieng Plateau doesn’t face sunrise or sunset, so it’s not ideal in that way, but the hills are nice to look at. Rain made the scenery misty, cold, and peaceful, and the night view was lovely too. The furniture and amenities were good, including a TV. A guard was on duty and responded quickly when contacted. Parking was spacious: there were about 4-5 cars during our stay, and I think 6-7 could fit. Breakfast came as six portions of fried rice and eggs. I’d heard it could be bland, but ours was tasty, with fresh vegetables, so maybe it’s improved. A coffee shop is nearby, and several attractions, including Arjuna Temple, Sikidang Crater, and Dieng Park, are quite close. I was satisfied and would definitely come back if I could get a price under 1 million rupiah. Follow us on @zalanzazan, TikTok, and Instagram.

Really cozy villa, and a good fit for 5-6 people. It had hot water, a stove, and a few cooking utensils. The stairs creak every time you walk up them, though, which gets a bit annoying.

I was happy with our one-night family holiday stay. I booked through Agoda with a discount, first choosing the family type. The caretaker let me see the room before I decided to upgrade to a deluxe one, which felt more comfortable for five people. The service was friendly and the cooking equipment was complete. There was a water heater, though it worked only sometimes. That was the main downside, since when it wasn’t working, it was too cold to use the water for ablutions or bathing. The TV had no signal, so we couldn’t watch regular TV; it usually had Netflix and YouTube, but that was okay and not a problem for us. The rest was fine.

Nice villa, good for getting together with a group, if you're in Dieng.
