Comforta Hotel Dumai (Formerly Comfort Dumai)

The room was spacious and clean, and the staff were polite and friendly. Service was great, the breakfast had plenty of variety, and the price was affordable. The Wi-Fi was fairly stable and fast too. Good job. One thing to fix: the power outlet by the bed didn't work.

The staff were good and quite helpful, and breakfast was okay. The room and the facilities we used, though, fell far short of the Western standard I expected. For nearly 25 euros a night with breakfast, I thought we'd get more. The room was reasonably clean by Asian standards, but not spotless. The sheets had lots of stains that clearly remained even after washing, and the bathroom smelled a bit. The spa area was the biggest shock. It was even dirtier, almost disgusting, and it seemed they didn't clean it. The pictures don't show the awful smell, especially in the women's shower. The spa itself looked old and poorly maintained, nowhere near a good Western standard. The sauna seemed self-assembled, with wooden pieces all over that could potentially hurt someone. For the price they charge, I found the stay quite disappointing. I wouldn't recommend it. I'm also a bit worried about what other places in the city are like, since this one seems fairly reputable.

The room is large and has a maximum warmth type. Everything else was good, but breakfast had very little choice.

I couldn't figure out how breakfast worked at this hotel, so I didn't have any. The man at reception was friendly. There was hair on the floor, so the room wasn't clean enough. The Wi-Fi disconnects after the computer or phone sits idle for a while, and it's too noisy when someone moves things on the floor above.
