Sonaview Hotel

Dumai doesn’t have any footpaths anywhere, just a note. The hotel itself is clean, the beds were comfortable, and everything worked as advertised. It’s 1.7km from the ferry terminal and 1km from the shops. The staff are all very nice, and I can recommend the top-floor restaurant for a good meal.

The room was spacious, and the bedsheet was clean. Service was warm and welcoming. Breakfast had a decent variety and tasted good, though the WiFi wasn’t very stable. One of the small pillows smelled a bit musty.

Breakfast was good, with nasi goreng, omelette, and plenty more. The view from level 5 was nice. The room and toilet were super clean, though there was a smell of smoke when we walked in, and the bedsheets seemed old. Thankz

The rooms and public areas were clean and tidy, the price was good, and the hotel is run well. I’d suggest a little work on its standard operating procedures. Ibu Santa from marketing was very helpful with my booking, and the security team, especially pak Idam, were cooperative and helpful in every situation. Thanks to them. I’m unsure whether the housekeeping procedure is being followed properly, because after cleaning my room there was no mineral water. I also wonder whether the restaurant knows its procedure and whether this is normal for a three-star hotel. My booking included breakfast for two; my wife had already used one, and I asked them to send the other breakfast to my room because I hadn’t arrived yet. The restaurant brought two portions but charged an extra 50k IDR per person for breakfast, so I lost 50k over this. The receptionist couldn’t explain or resolve it, even at checkout. The staff need training on proper management and operating procedures. Please improve the hotel’s quality.
