We were gone after 30 minutes, and found another place nearby. There was no way we were spending a night there. The photos online were nothing like the dark, moldy, neglected property we found. The pool was under a rotting tarp, full of mold and debris, and unusable. The room was filthy and dusty, with more mosquitoes than I’ve ever seen. It felt like an infestation. We were initially apologized to and promised a refund, but the owner stopped communicating and dodged our messages for days. Eventually they said some nonsense about being unable to process it until the following month. That was the last we heard, with no refund and no further replies. I’ve never left a bad review before and usually try to be balanced, but this place was awful. Don’t take a chance here, pick somewhere else. There are plenty of good options in the area, and this isn’t one. I strongly advise skipping it entirely.

The only staff member on site was Oggy, if I’ve got the spelling right. He was kind and very helpful. My room was private, nice, and fairly quiet, but the water situation was rough. It only ran when a noisy pump was switched on, then needed time to build pressure. There was still no water for the toilet, and the shower didn’t work in the afternoon. The floorboards felt unsafe, with gaps between them and the walls. Outside looked nice at first, but closer up it wasn’t so good, and the pool couldn’t be used. It seems like this may once have been a really nice resort, but it’s now worn and lacking. Not the worst stop, but not great, and overpriced for its current condition.

The bungalows were clean and lovely, and the pool looked stunning. The staff were amazing, and we felt at home, like we were staying with friends. The food was absolutely delicious and great value. They also arrange surf trips to the local breaks and share useful local knowledge. We’re so grateful to Ekas Breaks for the time we had there.

We visited in October 2024, and the new owner and staff went above and beyond to meet every wish we could think of. The bungalows were cosy, too. If you’re planning to see pink beach, this is the best place to stay. We can really recommend Ekas Breaks.

The surf coaches at this camp were excellent, and I’d definitely recommend staying here if you want to learn to surf at Ekas. It was recently taken over by new management, and I had a great stay. The service was outstanding, with everyone making an effort to help me enjoy my time there.
