Gilizen Resort - Private Pool Villas

The staff were kind and friendly, but the villa itself was old, dirty, and badly in need of maintenance. I stayed one night, and the swimming pool hadn't been cleaned. I wouldn't recommend it if you're after somewhere clean and cosy.

The main drawback was the access paths right around the property. I'm not sure there is anything the hotel can do since the land isn't theirs, but the roads there were covered in thick black dirt that turned into clouds of dust. Walking in and out was unpleasant, and our shoes or feet got filthy each time. We did enjoy the stay otherwise. The French owner was incredibly professional and attentive, checking on guests and going out of her way in a good way. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was so good, and the croissant was a lovely treat. The rooms, including the lovely honeymoon display, and the pools were beautifully done. We also liked being near the island's northern stretch for sunset.

It's a quiet villa and quite clean, with breakfast brought right to you. They also offer a floating breakfast, which was nice and made things comfortable. The staff were always smiling and ready to help. The location isn't as good as beachfront places, though renting a bike can solve that. I'd recommend it.

We stayed three nights in a private villa with a pool and had a pleasant time. The villa was roomy enough for two, and the beds were comfortable. At check-in they gave us a refreshing welcome drink. All the staff were friendly throughout, asking about our day when we came and went and offering ideas for things to do on the island. There was a wide range of breakfast choices. As a coeliac, I could order without bread, or get the vegan smoothie bowl without granola. That bowl was really good.
