Dejavu Hotel Turtle Beach Gili Trawangan

A friend suggested this place, so my family and I stayed for four nights. The hotel has a beautiful setting, and we got to swim with sea turtles at its beach. Everyone on staff was helpful and treated us so well, and the restaurant food was delicious. We’re hoping to return next year. Thanks for everything.

Being right across from the beach meant we could hear the waves from our room, which was nice. The room itself was humid and dim, and the floor felt a little sticky. When we came back from going out, we often spotted what seemed to be little gecko eggs on the bed, which made us uncomfortable. Breakfast was confusing. It seemed like we needed to ask before they would prepare it. The staff were kind and friendly, though, and helped us arrange bike rentals.

There wasn’t a manager or receptionist around. Only a cook handled check-in, and no one else was available to answer questions or help. What we found was nowhere close to the online photos or description. The bungalow was filthy and badly maintained, with peeling paint, dust, mold on the walls and furniture, and holes in the walls stuffed with rags. The sheets were stained and dirty, like they’d been used to wipe things down. The “Deluxe Bungalow” we were given was a disgrace. Maybe the rooms at the front are in better condition, but ours was a joke and felt like a real lack of respect for guests. I recorded everything on video. The pictures and video look much better than the reality, and this place was absolutely not worth the money. Don’t waste yours here. Avoid it at all costs.

We paid for 8 nights but left after just 1 because of how bad the room was. They said they would give some money back, but it never happened. Breakfast was basic, and I don’t think I’m especially demanding, but I wouldn’t stay here again. The room was dark, the floor filthy, the toilet barely flushed, and there were cockroaches in the bed. The mosque is very loud in the morning, though there are places on Gili T where you don’t get disturbed by it. I really can’t recommend this accommodation.
