Dejavu Hotel

For 420k IDR a night during Christmas, Dejavu was definitely not worth it. The pool was dirty, and I didn't see anyone clean it during my four-day stay. The washroom, which is open to the air, collected dried leaves and dirt that looked as if it had been left there for months, and water got clogged in it. There was no room cleaning unless I specifically asked. The rooms felt badly maintained, with just bed lamps and no tube lights or other lamps. With the curtains closed it was dark, but I couldn't leave them open because people sat on the lawn facing the rooms to drink and chat. I'd choose another hotel or villa, even if it looks farther from the harbor and pubs, since everything on the island is only about ten minutes from them. Dejavu isn't an option if you need basic amenities.

Our room was worn, the toilet and bathroom were poor, and part of the sliding door wouldn't open. There's a mosque nearby, so expect to wake up at 4 o'clock. The price is high for such a low standard. We also had a very unpleasant incident: our friends' son badly cut his leg on a broken pool tile, right in front of the hotel staff. He was taken to hospital and needed stitches, and the family paid 700 thousand rupees. When we got back, the owner said it was impossible to get hurt in the pool, took off his jacket, and jumped in to demonstrate. The staff removed the piece of ceramic tile right after the incident, but the owner refused to watch the camera footage of the pool. The hotel didn't apologize. It's a pity that someone smart enough to open a hotel didn't manage the business properly.

We appreciated being able to check out a little later, and I joined one of the private snorkeling trips they arrange. It was great. The place is clean, with a good range of breakfast choices and plenty of towels and bathroom amenities. You can go straight to the beach, and the staff, especially at reception, are very friendly.

We had an amazing five-day stay here. I booked two places on Gili T, one for my son and me at Dejavu hotel and a more expensive one for my friend. Dejavu was a 10 out of 10 for me. The friendly staff went the extra mile for their guests. It's within walking distance of turtle snorkeling and places to eat. We'll definitely come back next year and stay longer.
