Santorini Beach Resort

I checked out early because I dreaded coming back to the room. It always felt damp, and the tap water never seemed clean, so I felt dirty after using it. The bathroom was very mouldy, there was a huge gap in the wall to the outside and bugs got into the room, and there was a wasps nest outside. The pool was disgusting, I think it caused my rash, and I slipped on algae. I left the 'make up my room' sign out for a day and a half, but the room was never cleaned. The staff were nice, and they probably would have cleaned if I asked, but after being out I didn’t want them in the room. Agoda and google showed the wrong address. It was about 400m down a driveway and not near the beach. They took our breakfast order at check-in and cooked it the night before. The Indonesian breakfast made me sick, but the American one didn’t. I paid about $10aud more per night for a resort on the other side, with real breakfast, multiple clean pools, a clean, cold room, and a much better feeling when I walked back. I’d recommend staying on the other side of the island and coming around for the sunset. There were a few good points here: nice staff, unlimited water at reception, cold air conditioning, and it was very, very quiet away from the beach.

Avoid booking here. We had trouble with broken A/C in several rooms and a frustrating experience getting help. At 10am we asked Nina, the receptionist with short hair tied up, for assistance with the A/C and room cleaning. She stayed on her phone and didn’t listen when we asked politely, and seemed to have an attitude. When we followed up at 5pm, Lulu, the other receptionist, said she hadn’t heard about the broken A/C, so no one had dealt with it all day. She offered another room, but its A/C was broken too. She apologized and called another staff member. Gedi from housekeeping was helpful and finally found us a habitable room at 9;40pm. What a disaster. There are plenty of other villas and hotels on Gili T., at different prices, and this was by far the worst service. I might have spelled the names wrong, but those were the names they gave me. The room was small, with a basic bathroom, though good enough for 2. The pool was clean and there’s bike parking. There were some mosquitoes, so bring insect repellent.

We really enjoyed our stay at Santorini. It’s on the quieter side of this busy little island, but easy to reach everywhere else, with the pony traps making connections convenient. The place is presented well on Booking.com and other sites, and well worth visiting. The staff were incredibly friendly and went well beyond a basic welcome. Mikael, Fenny and Rod were especially hospitable.

The receptionist was unreasonably rude, and the rooms are quite small, so don’t arrive expecting much. The lighting is dim, and the bathroom toilet faucets are in poor condition. For the price quoted on Agoda, it wasn’t worth it. If it had cost less, I wouldn’t have complained, but I did expect decent service. Don’t let the pictures fool you.
