The beach could be great, and it was nice seeing so many 'bule's visit. But the shoreline pavement is damaged and there’s a lot of rubbish, so the local government should improve Hu'u while still supporting local UMKMs/MSMEs. At the hotel, the rooms were comfortable and the WiFi was fast at first. The pool water is stagnant, though, and the front yard isn’t kept up. Breakfast is adequate, but may not be enough for people who are very active. I’d rate it 3/5, but I’m giving it 4.

The room was moldy, had no rubbish bin, and felt far too expensive for what you get. Maybe it was worth the price years ago, but that time seems to have passed. Paying by card also came with an extra 3% charge, which Bank Indonesia doesn’t allow.

Step outside the resort gate and you’re straight onto a beautiful beach. The rooms are simple, but clean, and they’re cleaned every day. There’s a good mix of Western and local dishes on the restaurant menu, and staff will bring food to your room. Hard to ask for much more.

The pool was disgusting, and I wouldn’t swim there. The place itself felt dirty and run down, and a pump behind my room kept me awake all night. I told the staff, but nothing was done. Restaurant staff were rude, too. Local taxi drivers on the hotel grounds extorted me, and the manager’s response was that I should pay for the privilege of using another service.
