The boarding house keeper is unfriendly and has no manners or sense of courtesy.

There were a lot of problems here. The bathroom has no door, and the cupboard is open beside the sink, where it could get water-damaged. Storage is limited to a small space under the bed. The bathroom has stone tiles rather than regular ceramic ones. The heater only made the water barely warm, and once the water was so dirty that I had to shower using gallon water. There's no motorbike parking. Laundry turned my white shirt yellow, though it had been fine before, so I started washing it myself. Some clothes also went missing, and I never found them before leaving the boarding house. The deposit was a steep 1 million rupiah, and they deducted 400,000 rupiah for my sudden departure even though I'd given eight days' notice. Its return took longer than the stated maximum of 2x24 hours, and I received no compensation. The TV was there but had no set-up box, so it wouldn't work unless I paid for one myself. Wi-Fi slowed down at night. The general arrangement felt unfair: if the boarding house makes a mistake, the tenant still gets a deposit deduction or fine, but there seems to be no consequence when the boarding house is negligent.
