A cozy place. Keep it up!

For 2.2 Million Rupiah a month in 2022-2023, this boarding house was a frustrating place to live. The room was old, neglected, and had a door that wouldn’t lock properly. The landlady often came in without asking. Complaints took a long time to deal with, and repairs kept failing again. The AC was loud, leaked water constantly, and didn’t cool the room. Each room had no sunlight, with ventilation facing the corridor. The drying area was all the way up on the 4th floor. The toilet had no jet shower, so you had to use a dipper, and there was no water heater. When the landlady tried to install a jet shower, she got angry and said, “This is my boarding house.” It started out as women-only, but later men, women, and married couples all lived there. The 1st floor was entirely occupied by married couples, and the electricity tokens were often annoying because they made constant noise. There was no gallon water, and you had to provide your own gas for the kitchen and other needs.

I was tired, confused, and looking for a daily boarding house for my boyfriend late in the day. The hotel was full, so I ended up taking the only place I could find here, and I was the last victim. It was expensive and felt abandoned. The landlady’s expression was so unpleasant, like we were only being allowed to stay even though we were paying. My boyfriend checked in at 7:30 pm so he could wait for a relative who said they’d pick him up the next afternoon. But checkout was at noon, and the relative didn’t arrive until 12, so he had to leave and wait at the minimarket. If the place or the person had been friendly, I could understand, but I can’t put this experience into words. If the place isn’t good, at least be friendly. Don’t be arrogant 🤏

This was my first boarding house in Jakarta, and it was close to work with a strategic location. The rooms were spacious and the facilities were good. At 2.1 million rupiah per month for an en suite bathroom, electricity and water are included. There’s also a refrigerator and shared kitchen. The 3rd and 4th floors have windows with city views, though parking is limited. So far, so good. Highly recommended.
