Ghurfati Hotel

I hardly ever leave bad reviews for places I've stayed, but I feel I need to this time. The staff were extremely indifferent and not at all helpful when problems came up. The WiFi didn't work, and neither did the shower faucet. I stayed five nights and nobody came to clean the room, so dust was everywhere. They also switch off the hot water after nightfall, so keep that in mind if you go out late. Worst hotel I've stayed at. Please choose somewhere else.

I'm 69 and the room changes left me exhausted. Room 307 had no electricity, so they moved me to 301, where the AC didn't work. I was then moved again to room 401, and there was no lift. Check-in was at 2 p.m., but I had been waiting since noon. I paid for two nights by credit card, and the receptionist took photos of my card. I thought that was hotel policy. Then, when I was at the airport around 6:40 a.m. after checking out, I got a bank message saying I'd made a $54.49 purchase. I was shocked. I tried to contact them but couldn't get through. I strongly suspect the receptionist, so be careful when paying by bank card.

Water was all over the floor, apparently leaking from the pipes, and the sewer had no cover. There were lots of little flies in the toilet, plus a large cockroach coming from the sewer. The toilet itself was very high and awkward to use. Power was out from morning until afternoon, so I had no air conditioning and couldn't charge any devices for work.

The room was small but made good use of its space, and the staff were friendly and helpful. They also managed my early check-in request. Room access felt secure because entry was restricted. I was satisfied enough with the stay. The neighborhood, parking, and getting a car in were the downsides. Still a decent option for backpackers and people watching their budget.
