Madu Inn Hotel

The room stayed surprisingly quiet at night, even though the hotel is on a busy lane on Jakarta's outskirts. Maybe that's because there are no windows and the building is tucked between other buildings. Inside, the design is minimalist, the bedroom is large, and the pillow and thick duvet were fairly comfortable. The bathroom was really horrid, with visible stains on the tiles and corners. The lift is small, so it isn't convenient with large luggage or a big group. TV channels and air conditioning were both poor.

Madu Inn is a good option if you're on a limited budget. I stayed for four days and three nights, and paid around 570k rupiah. It was better than I expected and I was satisfied. The staff were very friendly, checking each day whether I wanted the room cleaned. They also offered coffee or tea every morning. Kota Tua is nearby, with a night market around the area, and there's a 24 hour clinic right in front of the hotel.

This was my worst stay in a month traveling around Indonesia. The hotel was very dirty and damp, with mold all over the bathroom. While we showered, the room floor flooded like a swimming pool. There were lots of mosquitoes and other weird things, a strong cigarette smell, and dirty bed sheets. The other guests were very noisy, talking loudly from 5 am for two hours and waking us up. The breakfast was very poor for the price: one cold, untasty tea and one egg, with no fruit, juice, water, milk, or pancakes. The photos are fake. It wasn't a good deal, and I regret going there.

The room itself was clean. I felt uneasy at times because the location has lots of alleyways, and you have to walk through them to reach a livelier area.
