Merlynn Park Hotel

The start of my stay was frustrating. Check-in took a long time, I couldn't get into my room until 4:00 PM, and staff kept offering me a smoking room that didn't match my booking. The room also wasn't as clean as it should have been. Desi, the Guest Experience Manager, changed my impression. She contacted me personally with a sincere apology and took responsibility for what had happened. She followed up quickly and thoughtfully, arranged late check-out, and offered complimentary dimsum. That kind of personal care is rare, and I'm grateful for it. It's why I'm happy to update my review. With continued attention to the front office and housekeeping, this hotel has real potential.

The one thing that stood out positively was the employees. They were courteous, efficient, and professional, even with so many problems at the hotel. Housekeeping kept the surfaces clean, but the state of the rooms and bathrooms undermined any basic comfort. The building feels neglected, maintenance seems cheap and inadequate, and the interiors urgently need a complete renovation. Our non-smoking room smelled strongly of cigarettes, and the bathroom had a lasting urine odor. The decor is very dated, we saw mold in several places, the pillows were painfully hard, and the furniture needs replacing. Breakfast was another disappointment. The buffet leaned heavily toward Indonesian food, with very few options for international guests. The food wasn't anything special, and dishes weren't refilled promptly. The dining room was crowded, with no apparent social distancing, and so few tables were free that we waited 30 minutes to be seated. I booked merlynn park hotel through a tourism office after seeing its online presentation and reviews describing it as a “4-star” or equivalent hotel. What we found didn't match that description at all. I'm appalled by the difference and plan to discuss it with the agency. With the facilities in such poor shape, I can't give more than 2 stars, and that is only because of the staff.

Breakfast was a nice surprise this visit: there was plenty of markisa, and the restaurant team gladly brought more for my family when we asked. Ridho greeted me warmly and even remembered me after quite a while away. This was my third staycation at Merlynn Park Hotel Jakarta, and it felt just as enjoyable as the earlier ones. We had a small room issue on arrival, but Flo (Guest Relations), Angela and Indah (Reception), and Dany (Bell Boy) sorted it out incredibly quickly. Check-in was efficient too; if there's a brief wait, the roomy lobby, comfy sofas, snacks, and drinks make it pleasant. The pool was well cared for and had enough chairs even while busy. The gym has a good range of equipment, though the dumbbells could use an update. The team at Merlynn Park Hotel really gives great hospitality. I’ll be back.

The location is very strategic, and the service is efficient. Rooms are well maintained, and the breakfast choices change every day, which is amazing. The bathtub had dirty stains, though, and the bathroom needs to be much cleaner. All the staff were so friendly, from reception and housekeeping to breakfast and the bellman. Housekeeping especially never failed to greet us and made us feel welcome. To the general manager of merlynn, please let the team know how welcoming they are.
