N2 Hotel Gunung Sahari

Stayed one night after a concert. For under 500 thousand for two days, the price felt fair and the place was comfortable. Just be aware that you might find a small cockroach. If you're very particular about cleanliness, it could make you uncomfortable.

It's close to the station, the subway, and Indomart, and there's tasty gado gado nearby. The rooms are spacious and the price is low, but the place still isn't fit to stay in. The bed and blanket made me itchy, rusty things were everywhere, and the faucet was broken. It feels like a broken pirate ship, even for a short stop. The rooms really need a simple renovation.

For what I paid, I don't regret staying. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and private, the bathroom worked well, and there were quite a few facilities and complimentary items. The smell was the one thing that stopped me giving five stars. It hit me as soon as I entered, and the bedsheet still smelled a bit even after I sprayed perfume and switched on the AC.

It's easy to spot, with the Transjakarta Budi Utomo bus station nearby and plenty of other public transport passing through. The price is reasonable, and they offer breakfast, though it's only a rice box with no water. I found the staff just okay, not especially friendly or helpful, and the place seems poorly maintained. There are workers around who could do a lot to improve it, from the front area to the garden. I hope they do. I knew the hotel as N2, but its listings call it U Stay and RedDoorz Plus @ Gunung Sahari 2 through RedDoorz, even though it's actually on Gunung Sahari Raya.
