The location near Halim Perdanakusuma Airport was the one positive. The owner didn’t know I had booked through Agoda, and after I arrived she tried to get my sympathy through what seemed like small talk. The photos on Agoda, Booking.com, and other sites were misleading; the place looked completely different in person. There was no key for the room, entrance door, or gate. The owner said it was safe, but someone could still come in from the street while you were out. Inside, it smelled damp, the walls were dirty with peeling plaster, and dust, dirt, ants, and black cobwebs were everywhere, including on the ceiling and window. I had to get a broom from the hall and sweep the webs away. The door, curtain, and sheets were dirty too. When I asked about the sheets, the owner said they had been washed. I was too embarrassed to use them, so I used the two thin towels I’d brought as a sheet and blanket. The bathroom was filthy, with dirt, stains, streaks, and limescale on the fixtures. I only stayed one night and couldn’t bring myself to wash there. There was a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a single-use shower gel sachet left on the metal shelf from the previous guest, so it didn’t seem like the bathroom was cleaned between guests. There was no toilet paper or towel, and a cigarette butt under the table suggested the floor hadn’t been swept. The sheet also had a cigarette burn. WiFi kept cutting out and was down more often than it worked. This place should be inspected, and the owner fined for these conditions. Everyone deserves a basic standard of cleanliness. I wouldn’t knowingly leave a pet here. Don’t stay if you want to avoid disappointment, illness, losing money, or being bitten by ants or spiders.
