The location near pesar senen was convenient, and the staff were good. That was about all I liked. I stayed two nights and would avoid this room under any circumstances. The corridor smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, and ants were everywhere. The sink tap kept leaking and nobody fixed it. The bedding was in awful shape: the sheets hadn’t been changed after the previous guest, despite staff confirming they had. There was hair, stains, and tears in them, while the pillows and duvet looked as if someone had trampled them in shoes. There’s no elevator, though staff kindly carried our luggage up. A loud karaoke restaurant next door stayed noisy until midnight, so getting sleep was out of the question.

We only stayed one night. The toilet had a really disgusting smell, though we put up with it. We needed to leave at 7:00 the next morning for a flight, but there was no staff around, so we left the key at the office. Then, as we were heading out, we found the gate locked. Nobody we tried calling was available. In the end, it took about 15 minutes to squeeze through a gap just ten centimeters wide, and our Grab driver had to help.

There’s no daily room cleaning, as far as I could tell, though maybe you have to request it. The rooms do have internet, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I wasn’t sure when they opened in the morning, since I only saw them at 11 pm. The RedDoorz is in the Tanah Tinggi area near Pasar Senen, with easy access to places around town. Food sellers nearby make it easy to get cheap meals. There’s also a cafe on the ground floor, but it seemed to be closed during the pandemic.

The room was very small, and the blanket and pillow had visible marks. Favehotel costs about the same but gave me a much better experience.
