Rumah Shinta

The service was really poor, especially from Ruth at reception. I complained, but instead of doing better, he got angry with me. Budi also came across as unfriendly and unable to do the job. 👎

The location makes it easy to get to museums, malls, restaurants, and places to hang out, and you can spot the hotel easily from the main road. WiFi worked really well, too. Room size depends on what you book. The single was tiny, barely enough for one person, while the double had plenty of space. Service was pretty good and quick, with the room cleaned and used toiletries replaced every day. Breakfast was basic Indonesian food, but tasty. There was also unlimited white bread with plenty of jam, plus a very good cup of coffee.

The free breakfast was decent, the hotel was fairly clean, and the staff were friendly. The overnight receptionist in particular was very good. Still, I don't think the price is justified. The double room was so cramped there was barely room to move around the bed. Most rooms are inside with no window, or look onto the kitchen and dining area. WiFi was slow and kept dropping, the hot water was only lukewarm, and the weak AC took hours to cool the closet-sized room. I'd either pay a little more for somewhere nicer or spend half as much on a cheap guesthouse. That's better value than Shinta.

I liked the local-style complimentary breakfast, and the staff were very kind. My small single room was at the back of the building, so it was quiet, and I didn't mind the size. But there was a strong smell of oil or machinery in there that made me feel sick.
