Shakti Hotel Jakarta

The room itself was very clean, and for the price the place seemed like a good fit. But I had problems with someone following me from one hotel to another and poisoning my tap water!! The first-floor room smelled of cigarettes, enough to make me regret booking it. I’d recommend a second-floor room instead, it should be much better.

I checked out only a few hours after arriving. The whole building smelled of cigarette smoke, even though the room was marked non-smoking, and I could barely breathe in there. When I’d just checked in and lain down, housekeeping opened my door to ask if the room had been cleaned. The dim lighting throughout the lobby, bedroom, and bathroom made the place feel eerie, and the lobby already smelled of cigarettes when I walked in.

The capsules were affordable and gave plenty of privacy. The place seemed new, was clean, and had good equipment, without the cheap furniture I’ve seen in other places I stayed in Indonesia. The staff were nice too. I’d recommend it!

For what you pay, you get quite a lot of space, and it’s relatively cheap. Still, the experience was horrible, and the staff need much more training. The front desk checked another guest into our room while we were already inside, with no apology. Our bedsheet had tea stains on it, which felt like a hygiene problem. Then the front office forgot to give my ID card back after checking it.
