The Hermitage, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Jakarta

The only small letdown was the TV, which seemed a little small for such a large room. Everything else was lovely: the room was spacious and comfortable, the food was excellent, and breakfast had plenty of high quality choices. Service stayed attentive and professional throughout. The Hermitage Hotel Jakarta is a historic building from the late 1920s, beautifully updated as a luxury hotel while keeping its original character. We’d happily stay again.

Hana (Front Office) was especially kind and helpful. When we had a problem with the bathroom curtain, the team responded quickly and took care of it efficiently and professionally. Breakfast had a good selection, and the convenient location was also quiet. A comfortable, pleasant stay at The Hermitage Jakarta. Highly recommended.

The room’s classic feel was beautiful, and the comfortable bed meant we slept very well. We could hear the mosque prayers, but the soundproofing was good enough that they didn’t bother us. We came because we loved the historical Dutch colonial building, and I was told it had been the office building of Indonesia’s first president, Soekarno. The location is right in central Jakarta, close to malls, restaurants, and bars by car. Breakfast had enough choices, but the rooftop bar and dinner area felt worn out and old, and weren’t worth much. The rain shower was clogged with limescale and needs a thorough cleaning, since turning up the water sent it in every direction. The Asian decorations by the entrance and beside the stairs in the middle of the building don’t suit the classic antique style. They could change those materials to teak, including the stair railing and other antique woodwork. That would make an already beautiful hotel fully beautiful. We were welcomed by a friendly doorman and reception team, though in general I felt some staff were distant and selective toward guests. They seemed much friendlier if you were rich, and the warmth didn’t feel wholehearted.

The old world, classic look is lovely, and the place feels incredibly comfortable. The staff are polite, quick to smile, and have a great attitude. First time here, and I really love the vibe.
