U Stay Hotel Style Batik

I found this place through TikTok, but the reviews there felt overrated. I wouldn’t stay again or recommend it, especially with other hotels offering free Netflix now. I booked a week and was disappointed by the basics: the room had no kettle unless you asked, and the one they brought was dirty. There weren’t any cups or mugs, or a water dispenser either, so I couldn’t use it for hot water. The pillowcases looked old and unwashed, the shower gel seemed left by the previous guest, and after cleaning they didn’t leave fresh water bottles. When I raised this, the receptionist wasn’t very friendly.

The room was clean, there was hot water in the bathroom, and the hotel is close to the train station. Still, my supposedly non-smoking room smelled like smoke and had poor ventilation. One face towel was dirty, and they only had shampoo and liquid soap, no toothbrush. They also took a 100k deposit without explaining it beforehand.

The price felt fair for what I got, and the location made it easy to get around Jakarta. It was one of the nicest and cleanest hotels I’ve stayed at here. I’d definitely come back on another trip.

The internet could be better, and hopefully they’ll add breakfast service in the future. It’s a new budget hotel in the Tebet (Asem Baris) area, beside Prima Fresh. The rooms are more comfortable than at other budget hotels I’ve tried, with new furniture and a simple, modern minimalist look. There’s also a smart TV.
