Ayda Mangga Dua d/h Zuri Express Mangga Dua

I was counting the hours until sunrise so I could leave. The room smelled bad and needed proper airing and cleaning. I had to ask for cleaning products to spray down the bathroom. Water went everywhere when I showered, which was gross and annoying, and the stall was tiny. I wore disposable slippers in there because I’d got the impression they didn’t really clean, and I spent extra time sanitizing the toilet seat. The bed linen clearly hadn’t been changed between guests. It was brownish instead of white, and seeing the clean replacement next to what they took off the bed was creepy. I hate nasty conditions. The little wall AC barely cooled the room, then started pouring water onto the floor a few hours after I arrived. A maintenance worker came within minutes, which I appreciated, but brought a filthy-looking rag. The unit looked dirty and had lots of water in its cover. After about 30 minutes of cleaning it, he went to check the outside unit, came back, turned it on, and left. Six hours later the room was still barely above baking, so I called again. The next technician adjusted something on the remote, said he’d check the outside unit, and never returned. At least cool air finally started coming out. The lobby and surrounding buildings made a poor first impression. The place felt uncared for and needed serious cleaning and TLC. The orange chairs across from reception might have been cute five years ago, but they’re worn and very uncomfortable. Some housekeeping and other staff didn’t smell good, either. I wouldn’t want to walk around the area after dark.

The hotel was in the middle of changing from Zuri to Ayda when we arrived. As a couple, we found the stay not too bad, and the staff from housekeeping to security were kind and helpful. The room looked very nice, the bathroom was good, and the shower got really warm. But the bed was uncomfortable, the room wasn’t soundproof, and we could hear our neighbors talking. There was also a connecting door, so if both doors were open, you could see into each other’s rooms. In the mornings, music from the hall reached our room and was really frustrating. The AC seemed to affect our health, since we woke up with sore throats every morning. I hope the hotel improves the rooms, and changes the bedcovers during cleaning. Ours stayed yellow and wasn’t changed before we left.

The cleaning was thorough down to the smallest detail, and the rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. Staff were friendly and quick to respond to requests. Customer service, rooms, and location all worked well for me. I’ll definitely stay here again next time I’m in Jakarta.

Breakfast didn’t have a huge spread, but everything I tried was delicious. The room was clean and comfortable, though the air conditioning took a while to cool it down. The customer service was very good. Thanks to indra for the warm welcome.
