Grand Valonia

The hotel has two buildings, and the one shown in the photo is the newer one. We arrived and were put in tiny rooms in the old building, even though we had booked two rooms. Each bathroom was basically a large toilet with a shower in it. That may be normal in Indonesia, but ours was filthy. We told reception these weren’t the rooms we had booked, and when we asked for the manager, we were moved to rooms in the newer building. Those were much bigger, but dirty and right beside reception, so they were noisy as trolleys rolled across the tiled lobby. Our son’s room smelled of cigarette smoke. After the cleaners had been through, there was ash on the bed and bedside table, so the cleaner was obviously smoking. The larger bathrooms had a shower over the bath, but they were dirty and had no mirror. We had to ask for clean linen because ours was filthy, and the duvet cover had dried blood on it. We also had to ask for towels, which were in worse shape than the ones I use to wash our dog. There were no windows in the rooms, which made them feel a bit like cells, and there was a huge crack all the way down the wall above our son’s headboard. I’ll leave the buffet breakfast at that. My husband said, “The tea doesn’t look very nice.” I replied, “It’ll be alright once you put milk in it.” He said, “It does have milk in it.” Since I posted this review, the hotel has posted a fake review from me on Booking.com through our reservation.
