Halo Sustainable Resort Karimunjawa

The hospitality was bad, and there was no room service available, seriously? Just look at the breakfast yourself. It’s à la carte, with no buffet.

The surroundings are peaceful, and the hotel is fairly close to Karimunjawa harbor. You get a beach view, though the property isn't right on the beachfront. Our room was modern, spacious, and nice, and the staff we met were friendly. Getting help by phone was another story: we tried the duty manager, room service, and other internal numbers, but nobody answered. Breakfast could be better too. We came down at 8am and most of the fruit, bread, and jam were gone, with nothing replenished. Still, it's a good hotel.

Really welcoming front desk staff, and the location is convenient. The rooms are compact, but have the usual amenities. My only complaint was having the same breakfast menu repeatedly.

The beds and pillows were clean and comfortable, and the reception staff made us feel very welcome. The resort has a natural feel from all the wood, and the location is scenic, but you can't get down to the beach. A lot of the property also still seemed unfinished. Getting around could be hard for older guests or anyone with mobility issues. There are long stairways, no ramp to all the rooms, and I didn't see an elevator. The rooms are extremely small, so with kids and an extra bed there was barely room for luggage or to walk. We also had a few problems in the room. The flush didn't work, and the power was out for a long time with no generator. Breakfast was the biggest letdown: much of the food was gone most of the time, and what was there didn't look or taste appealing. We ordered bread, butter, and cheese instead. Service was slow, though the staff serving us were polite.
