Kupu Kupu Jimbaran Beach Club & Spa

Our room booking was changed at check-in from a family suite double room to two separate rooms, which weren’t next to each other. The receptionist didn’t explain this beforehand and couldn’t speak English well. A dinner voucher was offered as compensation, but the way staff handled and communicated the whole thing was the most disappointing part. Reception was left unattended, and nobody came to help with our bags. The rooms were huge, though the space wasn’t used very cleverly. Each one could fit a whole family with more beds. The shower areas were a little old and moldy. Breakfast was dismal, with food left out and cold. And despite being a L’Ocitanne franchise hotel, there were no L’Ocitanne bath products.

Things seemed fine at first, but then I needed a hair dryer and couldn’t find one in the room. After a long wait and three trips down to reception, they finally said they couldn’t find one and that it wasn’t included, even though the room listing said it was. The receptionist asked why I hadn’t requested it earlier, then told me to check out right there and move next door to intercontinental for a real 5 star experience. Absolutely absurd. Update: they did have a hair dryer after all, they just couldn’t be bothered to look for it 👌👌

The Joglo villas made for a fantastic, luxurious stay. We were there for our 25th wedding anniversary and arrived to rose petals and towels folded into two swans. Such a lovely touch. The beach is also only a short walk away, with beautiful sunsets, plenty of restaurants and bars, and even a little surf break for learners or body boarding. Evening scooter traffic can be challenging, so we used the complimentary buggy. Service was outstanding throughout our three nights at Kupu Kupu Jimbaran. Henry, Mimi, Ketut, Yoga and the rest of the staff were always cheerful, helpful, and full of local knowledge. They also catered gluten free meals for my wife. For the price, it’s a great option not too far from the airport. We’d absolutely recommend it.

From the moment we arrived, the staff at Kupu Kupu Hotel in Jimbaran made us feel welcome and were always ready to help. The hotel was clean and well maintained, so it felt comfortable and relaxing. We had a very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Jimbaran.
