My wife and I stay here regularly. The rooms are clean, and the staff are helpful. Sarasvati Hotel is a budget place with modern architecture and a cozy feel, at Jl. Banjarsari, Nano, Tawangmangu District, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java Province. Online rates can be as low as IDR 140,000.- on weekdays and around IDR 400,000.- on weekends. In peak season it may sell out or disappear from listings entirely. The views from the 2nd floor and rooftop take in Mt. Lawu and Sekipan Hill. The rooftop has plenty of space to relax, with unusual tables and chairs, and on a clear day you can watch the sunrise toward Mt. Lawu. There are also tables and chairs outside each room. A few drawbacks: hot water is inconsistent in all rooms, the shower in room 305 was stuck, TV reception ranges from poor to good and only free channels are available, thin walls mean noisy guests can be heard, and the free WiFi is slow to medium speed.

The exterior looks beautiful, with a touch of Dutch colonial style, and the scenery seems okay. The room gets cold enough that I don't need AC, though I'm already freezing. The bed's pretty rough to sleep on, and the washroom feels old.

Watching the sunrise or sunset with coffee or tea from the rooftop garden was the best part. What a wonderful world. The hotel brings together an old colonial building, culture, ethics, and nature in one concept. It has hot water and cable TV, and seems like one option for enjoying Tawangmangu and Grojogan Sewu waterfall. Prices range from 100-300k, depending on your choice.

I really liked the privacy and the hospitality here. The place is nice, and the 2nd floor is the most comfortable spot, especially if you want to rest. I'd recommend it.
