Obama House Ubud

It’s a rural spot, so there are bugs around, but that didn’t bother me and I loved my stay. The local area has good, cheap restaurants, and there are traditional Balinese temples and major Ubud attractions nearby. The hotel itself is quiet, with rooms away from the noise but only about a 10-15 minute drive from central Ubud. Obama and his wife were fantastic hosts, always ready to help. They made a lovely breakfast for me and my friends each morning, served outside by the pool and sun loungers. Scooters were available to rent at a very reasonable price, and the room was good value for what was included. I’ve never met hosts so nice. I’d stay again and recommend it. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any pictures.

It’s part of the owner’s home, so you get a glimpse of Balinese life, though there’s a bit less privacy. The owner is friendly and there’s a small snack shop, but check the expiry dates on the items. The pool is quite small. The two-storey building has rooms for up to four people each, and you can ask for basic cooking equipment if you’d like to make your own food.

I visited Bali in September 2017, and Mr Obama impressed me with his humor, dedication, and knowledge of his culture. To really get to know Bali, spending a few days in a nice homestay is a good choice. In my view, the wise ones pick Mr Obama Homestay, which comes close to perfection.

At obama house, guests can see Balinese people going about their daily activities, since it’s combined with a Balinese home. The family is friendly, and staying there feels like being part of the family. It’s a good house.
