Feb 2025, Business Room We chose this hotel after reading reviews about smoke lingering in the rooms, so we asked to see both smoking and non-smoking options. Compared with the other star hotel we stayed at in Kendari, they did a better job of masking the smell. The Business Room upgrade didn't feel worth paying for. When we compared it with the smoking room, that one actually had more complete furnishings. The window situation was strange too: the smoking room had a view, one non-smoking room had no window and felt like a jail, and the Business Room window faced a building less than 0.5 metres away, so there was no light or view. Staff and housekeeping were good, and breakfast had a nice variety. But smoking wasn't well controlled. We saw people smoking indoors in places like the restaurant and gym, though I guess that's a Sulewesi thing. We were also charged 20,000 IDR to have plates sent to the room for dinner. In over 30 hotels across Indonesia, this was the first to charge for that, and we couldn't even take the plates home. It's an okay place if you're passing through Kendari, but there's nothing five-star about it.

The room was decent enough for sleeping, but the stay was very disappointing. I arrived at 14.00 and it still wasn't ready. They said housekeeping was working on it, and after waiting 15 minutes it was still not ready at 14.30. Then at 09.50, before I'd checked out, a staff member opened my door without permission. How is the staff coordination this bad?

I only booked here because the other hotels were full, but it turned out pretty satisfying. The Business Room was quite spacious, although it could have been cleaner. Breakfast was good too. I'd come back if I visit Kendari again.
