The ants were in the bed, on the floor, and in the shower, and I also found a rat in my room about a meter from the bed. This was at Atra Bambulogy Villa, booked through Airbnb with host Rizal. I arrived in late January and was meant to stay through Feb 24, but left on Feb 11. I reported it to the host right away and got a polished apology. The on-site Operations Manager then tried to say it was a squirrel, not a rat. They couldn't find it because it had run away, and used that as a reason not to refund me. The host apologized nicely, but the manager tried to make me doubt what animal I'd seen, and nobody took responsibility. They kept the money for 12 unused days. Not what I'd expect from a villa in Bali. If sharing a room with rats and a bed with ants is fine with you, book it. Otherwise, I'd look somewhere else.

The rooms were okay, but our downstairs room had no curtains, so it was see-through, and the AC in our room didn't work. There were few facilities, and nobody to take our luggage up, so we had to carry it ourselves. The pool was effectively inaccessible because a stray dog stayed nearby and kept barking. It barked through the night, and the chickens started up early in the morning, so this is a bad choice if you're a light sleeper or don't get up early. There was only one staff member, a woman who said yes to dietary requests, but later left us disappointed. Overall, a bad experience.

I expected to stay a couple of nights, but wound up here for several weeks. I felt completely at home. The staff were warm and helpful, and my small villa had a beautiful room. The location is ideal, close to lovely restaurants and little convenience stores. I really enjoyed my time here.

We chose the place for its charming wooden buildings, and enjoyed our stay. The first impression was lovely, with lots of space, a pleasant timber and shellac smell, a huge bathroom, and a downstairs sofa that was one of the best places to relax. The bed was on the firm side but comfortable for us. I also liked the dogs in the compound, which made it feel homey. The floorboards didn't feel secure. Some warped and stuck up at the ends, and I kicked them a couple of times, so they weren't pleasant to walk on. There were cobwebs in the ceiling corners, though that wasn't a big deal. No luggage platform meant crouching down to handle our bags. Roosters acted as natural alarm clocks from 6am, sometimes earlier. We'd accidentally booked breakfast and tried the American option once, on day two of our four-day stay. It arrived cold, the bread was a bit stale, and the orange juice came from a box. Nothing wrong with boxed juice, but I don't like sweetened juice, and we preferred finding cafes for breakfast or brunch nearby. The gastropub next door played loud music from 5pm to 11pm. We were mostly okay with it, though it got irritating when we wanted to wind down before bed. Check-in and checkout weren't formal. If a staff member was around, you were checked in; at checkout, we had to search the area for someone to tell them we were leaving. Traffic jams outside made it annoying to get out of the area, and the nearest beach was about a 20-minute ride away.

My 68-year-old mother now has to move to different accommodation because the staff gave me the wrong information. I booked a room yesterday and asked specifically about staying several days. Ibu Uti said they were full until the end of the month. I explained that we only needed somewhere through Sunday, and WhatsApp said August 20th and 21st were possible, but Ibu Uti still insisted there was no availability. That evening I checked Booking.com and saw rooms available. When I asked again on WhatsApp, they said someone had booked the night before and they were now full for today. That was exactly what I had tried to arrange, but their staff had misinformed me. When I raised the problem, I was told, “I trust my team”. They didn't believe me. The booking platforms aren't up to date, staff don't communicate with each other, and there's no consideration for clients. Very poor management and customer service.
