The location was great, and the woman working there was very kind and helpful throughout our stay. She even kept our luggage at the villa for an extra hour. But after checkout at 11, our bags had to be left outside after 12 because there was nowhere to store them. The listing said there would be two beds, including a sofa, but that wasn’t what we found. The owner called and said it was “subject to availability.” He didn’t apologize, and told me I could ask Booking for a refund, take it or leave it. I don’t understand how that can be subject to availability when all the units are advertised the same way. The staff member brought a pull-out couch from another room, which was helpful. The place is old and poorly maintained. There’s no bathroom ventilation, it smells musty, and there’s barely enough hot water for two quick showers. Pool loungers were mouldy, the towels were ragged, the bathroom light was coming loose, and the walls were damaged by humidity. From downstairs, we could hear people walking upstairs. I live in Indonesia and have seen owners fail to use rental income to fix their homes. This place is one example.

We stayed for a month in June and July, and the apartment was cleaned whenever we wanted. It was quiet, and the pool was nice and clean every day. There are four apartments sharing the common area and pool, though during our stay only one other apartment was occupied, by a lovely family of three. The villa is about a 10-minute walk from the beach, where there are several beach bars. Bars, restaurants, and shops are also just 500 metres away in this busy area, but the villa itself is in a great spot. I stayed here with my boyfriend.

The lower floor can be noisy. We could hear chairs moving and water running upstairs. The utensils weren’t clean, with some leftovers on the cups, so I always washed them again. There’s a bathtub in every room, but not enough hot water to fill one, which was a big disappointment. On the plus side, it’s spacious, with a living room and kitchen, and the pool is good. The room, or house, is great value. The location is perfect, in the Seminyak area and close to Batu Belig.

The kitchen is well equipped, the bed is comfortable, and the swimming pool is beautiful. Staff were really friendly, and bars and restaurants are an easy walk away. It’s a lovely homestay, and I’d stay again.
