Villa Art Gecko

We spent six nights here and loved the villa. It’s much bigger than the photos suggest, and the amenities were just right. The concierge went out of their way to look after us, and arranging bikes through them was easy. We had no complaints about the bikes. The location is peaceful, away from the noise, but shops and restaurants are walkable and even closer by bike. We’d absolutely return and recommend it to anyone visiting Bali.

The two-bedroom villa has an open-plan living room, and I especially liked the ceiling fan over the living and dining area. The poolside doesn’t get afternoon sun if you want to sit out there. It’s also a convenient spot, with Batu Belig beach, shops, and restaurants all nearby and easy to reach on foot.

A peaceful place in the middle of a busy city. The property manager helped us with what we needed, and the driver was amazing. Thanks, Gobe and Anna, for such a great time.

I don’t often post negative reviews, but I want to alert future guests, particularly anyone traveling with children. The villa looks bright, new, and clean in the photos, but we found it old, poorly maintained, and quite unlike the listing. The air had a constant damp smell, and mold was visible across the walls, with some areas peeling. It wasn’t just a few small spots. I react to mold and woke up with my nose severely blocked. I believe the villa’s air quality caused that reaction. The place felt neglected. The old renovation was worn and damaged in several areas, and it seemed like nothing had been updated for a long time. Cleanliness was a real disappointment too: there were rust stains in the bathrooms, the surfaces felt dirty, and the kitchenware didn’t seem safe to use. The furniture was old and in poor shape. We also had safety concerns. An electrical outlet in the kitchen was covered with tape, which could be dangerous, especially with children. The pool looked uncared for, the water was greenish, and the chlorine smell was very strong, so we didn’t feel comfortable swimming. The mattress and pillows were uncomfortable, and we struggled to rest properly. When we brought these problems up, the response was that the villa was “high quality” and well maintained. That didn’t match what we experienced. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, especially with a family or for a longer visit. The actual condition is very different from how it looks in the photos.
