Wave House Boutique Surf Hotel - Adults Only

The staff and facilities at Wave House were fantastic, and I loved staying there. I extended my stay a few times, and even joined surf lessons while I was staying elsewhere in Bali. The instructors were great in and out of the water, and the video feedback sessions helped a lot. The restaurant food was top notch. Just be aware of the location. I expected lessons at Canggu beaches, where so many instructor-led groups surf, and thought the beach would be walkable from Wave House. Neither is possible. Beginner lessons were at Kutu beach, which has a lot of trash, and the drive there is long. I’d also assumed I could walk to shops and restaurants, but you need a GoJek to get around. There’s just one convenience store and one coffee shop within walking distance. I’d recommend staying here if you don’t expect to surf in Canggu or have easy access to Canggu beaches, shops and restaurants.

I’d never joined a surf camp before, and this went way beyond what I expected. The instructors were professional and fun, and the staff were all so friendly. I met lots of great people and we clicked. Some of my best Bali memories. Can’t wait to come back!

The staff remembered my name, which made the place feel really welcoming. I liked relaxing around the hotel and chatting now and then, and there were some pretty nice food options, including vegan meals. The whole complex is stylishly furnished, exactly my taste. Dev. Recommend it!

The food was one of the best parts of my stay, and the staff were warm, kind and helpful. The common areas are beautiful and well designed for hanging out, and there’s a nice community feel. A lot of the guests were really nice too. My room was a two-storey duplex, and it ran warm for me. There’s one small AC unit for the whole space. I like sleeping very cold, and even with it set to 18°C, it felt more like 25-26°C at night. That may not bother most people, but it did affect my sleep. I was there during New Year week, so nearby beach club music and fireworks kept me awake. I could still hear the bass and fireworks after New Year’s, even with earplugs. It wasn’t really the villa’s fault, but I ended up checking out early and moving to a quieter boutique hotel farther from the beach, though still near the school. Great food, friendly people and a social surf community. If you’re sensitive to heat, choose your room carefully, and if you’re a light sleeper, avoid peak holiday weeks.
