Kudo by Desa Oculus

The view was the highlight, absolutely breathtaking. We came for a day of swimming and had a great time. There’s no minimum spend for a table or day bed, though I’d book ahead in case it gets busy. The music had a relaxed pool feel, loud enough to enjoy but quiet enough to talk over. They had a fun range of unusual cocktails and mocktails, the food was fresh and delicious, and the service was fantastic. Everyone was so friendly.

The view is breathtaking, and the location is stunning. The restaurant food was delicious and the staff were friendly, so it might be worth staying once just for the experience. But as a hotel guest, I would never come back. The balcony tub took ages to fill with hot water and became a bath for insects, so we didn’t use it. The bathroom flooded badly, as other reviews have said, and smelled strongly of mold. It was awful; they could at least provide bathroom slippers or take other steps. The amenities were lacking too: our shampoo bottle was empty when we arrived, and I’m not sure rooms are being checked properly. The bed felt damp and uncomfortable, and my partner couldn’t sleep under the blanket because it felt so unpleasant. That needs attention. There’s no air conditioning, and humidity built up inside. We couldn’t open the windows because of the insects, so there was no way to get rid of the moisture. The restaurant had far too many flies, which made me worry about hygiene. The food tasted good, but the whole meal wasn’t comfortable. If you want to become an insect expert or don’t mind a damp bed, this place may suit you. 🪰⛰️🎓🐜

We were a group of 14, so it was a big food and drink order, but everything arrived on time and we could eat and chat without much waiting. The team at Oculus welcomed us so warmly at Kedisan Lounge. We had two lovely large tables, plus plush couches and beautiful long tables, and it was comfortable to sit together and talk over dinner. The food was delicious, and the mocktails were chef’s kiss. Definitely try the lava cake. Mang Wi and the F&B team, thanks so much, you were awesome. I’d love to come back!

The natural view is great, and the staff are very good. Dewa and Diana, the Restaurant Supervisors, gave especially good service. There’s no footpath outside, and there are lots of flies in the room. They try to address that by providing a Jeep tour and bug spray. I can recommend staying for 1-3 days.
