Sama Sama Suites and Restaurant

The staff are very eager to help and greet you whenever you move around the hotel. Rooms are on the second floor, above the two Japanese themed restaurants on the ground and first floors. I booked through booking.com and expected to find a pool area from the listing, but didn’t see one. The rooms are large, though they differ: one had a big living room, while another had a huge balcony and sitting area with a beach view. There’s an induction stove and basic cooking gear, including a pan, but no electric kettle, which makes coffee less convenient. Two 24hr mini marts are nearby, and the city area is about 3 kms away.

The lobby design is really cool, especially the lobby toilet, which feels like part of hogwarts hahaha. It’s a homy hotel with big, comfortable rooms, a kitchen for cooking or reheating food, and a water dispenser. The service is great and they respond quickly. There’s also a mini swimming pool, and it seems like a good fit for couples or families. They don’t provide a toiletries kit, but you do get towels, bath gel, and shampoo. There’s a mini market next door, so picking up a toothbrush or something is easy. I haven’t tried the food, so I can’t say if it’s good. It’s a bit far from seminyak and other cool places, but worth the money.

The staff were welcoming and seemed happy at work, and the service was good. I paid 155++ for the regular all you can eat, a special price for domestic guests and expats. The food was great, and the price felt worth it. A nice restaurant for a saturday afternoon.

The suites look like the pictures, though they’re a little older. They have a separate bedroom, a decent living area and a kitchen with a hob, microwave, fridge, and hot and cold water dispenser. But there’s no dish soap, sponge, cloth, or cooking pot. We only had two cups and very little cutlery, with no plates at all. The bathroom has separate shower and toilet areas, and soap and shampoo are provided. Air con and wifi were good. Pool view rooms are on the ground floor, while the rest are on the second. There’s no elevator. sama sama has two Japanese restaurants, one on each floor, and breakfast is served downstairs. At check-in, you have to fill in forms with your breakfast choices, including your drink, and say when you’ll be ready. They make it in advance, so if you’re late, it’s left there cold and soggy. The restaurant and bar close by 10.30pm. The hotel is on a main road, a long walk from Nusa Dua, with not much nearby. We had a few brief power cuts. Otherwise, it was fairly good value.
