Friends Beach Hotel

It was a mixed stay. We were on the ground floor, and the music wasn't as bad as people say, so maybe that helped. The setting was really pretty, the location was handy for the beach and bars, and we could walk to most places we wanted to go. There was a cool rooftop area on the fourth floor, but it wasn't well maintained. The towels were stained, and the replacements we asked for were stained too. There was someone's drink in the fridge, so perhaps it hadn't been cleaned between guests. The door scraped badly against the floor. I could put up with it at first, but it got more annoying the longer I stayed. The TV was there but didn't work, and the WiFi was a bit weak in the room. You get what you pay for!

The rooms are large, clean, and comfortable, and I got a good night's sleep. It's an older place, but I'd stay again for the budget price. The hotel sits just off the end of Kuta's main beach, with an easy walk into the tourist centre. The downside is the setting: it's down a dirt track, and the kampung across the road looks pretty run-down, so the immediate surroundings aren't very attractive.

They'd sold our room to someone else by the time we arrived, and I had to share the room they put us in. The bed springs left us wrecked, and the place was filthy. We couldn't get our money back, so we had to stay there. It was a disgusting experience, made worse by the staff.

The trees outside our room were lovely, and the staff were friendly. The hotel's in a pretty good location, and Tasty Hesty nearby is worth a visit for lunch or dinner. The place itself is very run-down. Also, breakfast isn't included, despite what Expedia said about the property.
