Mellow Hostel

If you want somewhere cheap and don’t mind a very rustic feel, this is an adequate hostel. The staff were nice, and breakfast was the same banana pancake every day. It wasn’t much of a social place; most of the time we were the only people in the dorm. The showers and toilets were a bit dirty and full of mosquitoes, though we’re used to that in hostels. There’s an uncovered outside window beside every dorm bed, so street lights shine in all night, which is annoying. There were lots of ants in the room. I know that may be hard to prevent, but I kept waking up with tiny bites and hope they were from ants rather than bed bugs.

We really liked the laid-back feel here, and the staff were lovely. The location worked well for us. Our dorm was huge, with roomy beds, blackout curtains, and a mattress that was the comfiest we found anywhere in Southeast Asia. Having breakfast every morning was a real bonus. We’ll be back!

It was easy to meet people here, but quiet enough that we got a good night's sleep every night. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the main strips were close by. Pai, Bruno, and Haika were really accommodating, and they arranged our airport transport too.

The hostel looked nice, but nobody was there when we tried to book a room. While my boyfriend looked for a staff member, I checked a mattress and lifted it up. Small brown bugs were crawling underneath. We suspected bedbugs, so we didn't take a chance and left for another hostel.
