T&T Homestay

The photos on the listing give a very misleading picture of the rooms. We paid over AUD $1,500 for three rooms over the MotoGP weekend, and even though this was a homestay rather than a hotel, the basic cleanliness was nowhere near acceptable. Mould covered the walls and ceilings, while the remaining surfaces were grimy and the paint was peeling. The bedding was stained and dirty. We left after one night, despite losing the full payment because the free cancellation period had passed. A wall fan above the bed blew dust and debris onto our faces all night, and the toilet had no lid, so flushing meant reaching into the tank. We couldn’t justify another night in those conditions. With everywhere nearby booked for MotoGP, we spent hours driving from one place to another looking for somewhere to sleep, and our group had to split up. When we told the owner we were leaving, he laughed as if it happened often. Another guest there said they were thinking of leaving too. Even at budget rates this would be overpriced, and in its current state it shouldn’t be listed on Booking.com. There are endless photos of banana pancakes, but they don’t show what the rooms are really like. We didn’t stay long enough to try breakfast, and I’m glad we didn’t. I strongly recommend staying somewhere else.

Talim was always there with a smile, ready to help with whatever we asked. The hosts are the friendliest, the prices are the cheapest, and the location is the best in Kuta Lombok. There’s a sociable common area where you can swap stories with other guests or the managers. Our room had everything we needed. You can also rent a motorbike or get laundry done here. Breakfast comes included, with a delicious banana pancake and coffee or tea. I’d definitely come back!

Talim arranged our speed boat tickets from Gulli Aer to Nusa penuda, and it all went very smoothly. When we later decided to leave a day earlier, he quickly changed the ticket date for free. You can rely on Talim if you need help with something. We stayed two days at Talim Homestay. The owners were really friendly and helpful, and the children loved his wife's very good pancakes for breakfast.

I had a great stay, and came back again after some time. The owner really looks after guests and finds a solution for everything. He even let me leave my luggage here for a week. Highly recommended 👌
