Deddy and Giri, thank you! We loved our six nights here and would happily return. The place is charming, beautiful and so clean, it really felt like paradise. Everyone was welcoming, from reception when we arrived to the restaurant team. They were kind and attentive throughout our stay. Highly recommend it.
The Patra was a pleasant place for our wedding anniversary, and the staff were humble, helpful and lovely. The hotel is old, but very well looked after. The restaurant choices were the weak point. They were expensive: nasi goreng cost 300.000Rp, while the same dish was 15.000Rp a few minutes down the beach. The buffet breakfast also disappointed and didn't compare with similar 5* resorts along the beach. Even so, I'd recommend staying at Patra.
Airport access is a real plus here. It's about five minutes by car or three by bike, airport pickup and drop-off are available, and taxis and Grab are easy to get. There's plenty of parking too. The Patra Bali Resort & Villas has two large pools, and the daily 19:00 movie with free popcorn is a nice touch. Breakfast runs 06:30-10:30 and has a good setup and variety. Service was excellent, with supportive staff and no complaints from me. The rooms are comfortable and maintained, though decent rather than luxurious. I didn't stay in a villa, but they looked fine overall. The nearby ocean sometimes washes up plastic and driftwood, which detracts a little from the villa view. A comfortable, convenient Kuta option for families or couples.
I used to love the beautiful grounds at The Patra Resort & Villas and had stayed here many times. After having a baby, I thought it would be the perfect place to relax. Instead, the first two nights have been exhausting and stressful. We wish we could cancel the rest of the stay, and I'm embarrassed that friends are joining us after I recommended the resort. It feels neglected and rundown now. What used to feel like a 5-star stay seems barely 3-star, and charging full luxury rates is insulting. The towels were thin and frayed, worse than low-end motels, and look years past their use-by date. It seems nothing has been updated in over 15 years. At the pool bar, we couldn't charge a drink to our room. I'd checked in, supplied three passports and left a credit card on file, but nobody mentioned the policy. I had to walk back soaking wet to get my card. That's ridiculous for a supposed 5-star resort, and completely unacceptable and embarrassing. On our second night, around 9:30pm, the room phone rang loudly and woke my husband and our 7-month-old. The hotel was calling about a transaction issue. We said we'd check, but they called twice more, waking the baby each time. When my husband said they'd woken our child, they laughed as though it were a joke. The lack of consideration was infuriating. I emailed the hotel about it and got no reply, despite giving them a chance to respond. Nobody should spend a holiday angry and counting down until they can leave. I don't recommend the Patra villas and resort, and we won't return. I've always been honest in my many Google reviews. If I could give zero stars, I would.
The gardens were well maintained, the resort was clean and tidy, and the pools were great. The staff were very nice. My room was lovely too, and housekeeping kept it that way. I had two very enjoyable days, but I'm glad to be checking out today. I might come back if friends or family wanted to try it. I chose no linen or towel changes for a 20% dinner discount, but never got the discount. The booking site's photos showerd a walk-in shower, while my room had a huge tub with a shower over it. It would be hard to get in and out of for someone short or even slightly impaired. I'm fit and younger, and nearly fell. The small daily tubes of body wash and shampoo seemed cheap. The shower head points straight at your face, so unless you want water in your mouth, you have to take it off the wall and hose yourself down like an elephant. I couldn't get much information on the [incomplete in source]. Tuesday Bali Night may have been postponed, but a duo singing and playing guitar sounded really good. Dinner was nice but expensive, and the cocktail was delicious. The first two breakfasts were delicious, a 5-star experience. My last one was awful: cold food, flies everywhere and much more basic choices. I feel for anyone who checked in the day before and got that as their first breakfast. If you book, double-check the shower setup and be ready for a disappointing breakfast. It's handy for airport arrivals and departures, though a decent drive from anywhere else. The one-hour walk to Boardwalk shops wasn't too bad.
