We booked CF Komodo Hotel online, but when we arrived they said it was full and sent us to a sister hotel. The room was basic and some of the bedding was dirty. The free shuttle to town was meant to help since this hotel was much farther away than the other one, which was within walking distance. It didn’t run on our first night, so we were told to pay for a taxi. It worked on the other nights, but seemed to leave at different times each night. After our boat trip, we were told to move rooms right away because a larger group needed ours. When we went in to collect our things, the room had already been prepared for that group and some of our belongings had been moved. We also met another couple who’d had the same double-booking experience, which seems like too much to be a coincidence.

The bed was really comfortable, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the rooms were clean for a good price. There was no hot water, though the water wasn't freezing. Breakfast came with the stay, and they also had a shuttle to the restaurant area by the bay. I enjoyed my two nights here. It felt somewhere between a guesthouse and a hotel, and I'd recommend it. The staff were very friendly. Watch out for the mosquitoes, and don't leave the door open for long.

This was the worst hotel experience I've had in seven months of traveling around Southeast Asia. The hotel is more than an hour's walk from town, with plenty of hills, so you're relying on their shuttle. It only runs once a day, and sometimes not at all. We asked them to book us a taxi for our diving trip, but it never showed up, so at 6:30 in the morning we had to go out to the road and flag down motorbike taxis ourselves. They also walked into our room without warning a couple of times, and breakfast was tiny. When we arrived for our four night stay, we were told they'd given away our room for the last two nights without letting us know. It took over two hours of arguing just to get a refund.

The room was comfortable and clean, and they provided water. There's also free tea and coffee at reception. The staff were nice and can help arrange tours, though breakfast was only mediocre. The Wi-Fi barely worked in the bedroom. It's outside town, but there's a free evening shuttle there and back for dinner.
