The girls were happiest feeding fish from the pier, snorkeling, and playing outside, and the water was usually calm enough for the little ones to enjoy the beach, even on windier days. We came with our two- and four-year-olds, and it worked out beautifully for a family stay. Some of our best trip memories were made here. The food is another reason we keep coming back. That salted tofu egg was just as good as we remembered, and we looked forward to the daily high tea. It changed location around the property each day, including Atlantis Bar and even the liveaboard. We returned to Plataran after another stay and still count it among our favorite hotels anywhere. The welcome is warm and thoughtful, with drinks, cookies, little surprises, and once even a welcome massage. The beachfront villas are roomy and comfortable, still feel luxurious after around 10 years, and are very well maintained. The bathrooms and closet areas are huge. Snorkeling, sunsets, the spa, and the drinks were all lovely. Service was consistently friendly and attentive. When we visit Flores, Plataran is always our first stop, and we're already looking forward to coming back. It's a relaxing, welcoming place with great food and plenty for couples or families to enjoy.

We had a really good stay at Plataran. My hanging pool villa was an amazing room with fantastic views, and the resort sits right on the beach. The staff were great, though at times the attention felt like a bit much, since we'd have liked more privacy. The facilities are nice but somewhat dated, a bit like Club Med if you're American. The food, especially the international dishes, was below par.

Snorkeling by the jetty is best in the morning, when the sea is calm and there's lots of fish around the coral and statues. Xanadu was our favorite restaurant, with rustic Indonesian charm and stunning views of the beach and islands. I also liked the small gym right by the water. We were lucky to get a hanging pool residence, a huge two-storey apartment with its own infinity pool and jaw-dropping views. Yoan, Salsa, Gusti and Elin looked after us so well. This is now my favorite resort on earth, a little piece of paradise in Labuan Bajo.

What stayed with me most was the personal care. Mr. Daniel, our room butler, and his team kept in touch through a WhatsApp group and replied quickly to itinerary questions and everyday requests. When I suddenly had a stomach ache, he checked in and brought medicine. Welcome drinks, a special fruit platter, and complimentary minibar drinks were waiting at check-in; at checkout we were given handmade cookies for the trip. Daniel's thoughtful arrangements made our stay comfortable and memorable. The check-in and checkout were quick, with regular follow-ups in between. There was plenty to do as well. Professional coaches led snorkeling and boat trips to see coral reefs and tropical fish in the hotel's waters. Sunrise breakfasts and sunset dinners paired the food with the scenery, and evening performances featured local traditional dances. The hotel even planted a tree in Bali in a guest's name and sent a photo, which gave the trip a sustainable touch. The resort felt secluded and spacious. It sits in a coastal area of Komodo Island, with a private beach, clear water, and fine white sand. Tropical greenery surrounds the property, which preserves the original landscape. The rooms and shared spaces are spread out, and the place was quiet day and night, with the sound of waves and birds. For now, it's a benchmark choice for a Komodo island getaway, with the privacy of the beach and a warm sense of belonging.

We were sorry we'd booked just one night at Plataran Komodo during our honeymoon. The bungalow, service, both restaurants, beach, and snorkeling around the jetty were all perfect. I can't recommend it highly enough. We definitely should have stayed longer.
