December rules out sea activities because of the monsoon, and even land activities like archery were cancelled due to strong winds. The spa and massages felt overrated and not worth the price. There’s a mall next door, but not much to see or do there, and the dining choice is limited to a few high-end outlets, with no affordable or varied options. The resort is very remote and makes it hard to be flexible or find things to do. Without a private vehicle, there’s no easy way into town, and Grab or Gojek won’t pick up or drop off here. Once you arrive, you’re basically confined to the hotel grounds. Management also feels extremely calculative, charging for facilities even when they’re in poor condition. The whole experience felt restrictive, almost like being a prisoner in the hotel area. I wouldn’t recommend it for families with children or anyone wanting activities, variety or convenience.

We came back for a family weekend after my first stay, which was for golf. Both times I chose this hotel for its location and service. It’s close to the ferry terminal and golf courses, with a mall, restaurants and the beach within walking distance. The attentive staff make it stand out from many places I’ve stayed. On this visit, the automatic entrance door started closing on our luggage as we were leaving for the ferry shuttle. A staff member spotted it and immediately switched off the automatic door so it stayed open while we moved through. At the terminal, hotel staff texted to say we’d left a baby food container in our room. The driver was already on the way and brought it to us in time. Those are just two examples among many small gestures from different staff. A big shout out to everyone at Grand Lagoi. You’re the reason I want to come back. Best wishes and Happy 2026 all!

I went to Bintan for the Marathon, and Grand Lagoi was a great place to rest and recharge before and after the race. The start line was just a 2-3 minute walk away. My room was spacious and very clean, the pillows were comfortable, and the Wi-Fi was fast enough to stream Netflix smoothly. I loved the infinity pool, about 23m long, with a great view and a depth that felt safe for kids too. The team were so nice and helpful. I arrived early, left my bags, and a staff member lent me an umbrella without me asking so I could walk around the resort area to collect my race pack. When I couldn’t get a ferry ticket to Singapore because everything was sold out, and needed to catch a flight from Singapore to Jakarta that night, they kept calling the ferry port staff to check for openings and made sure I got a ticket. They even drove me to the port so I wouldn’t miss it. Huge thanks to Pak Agustinus, Mbak Maria, Mbak Cici, Mbak Agnes, and Mbak Zahrim for all the help! 🙏 The food was good too. I had to run early and couldn’t eat breakfast at the restaurant, so the staff packed me a proper meal with a substantial dish, pastry and fruit. I really appreciated that thoughtful gesture.

We were pleasantly surprised by this older hotel, especially compared with some of the newer places nearby. The rooms and corridors are bright, clean and spacious, and the staff were friendly and good with kids. There’s a cafe on level 7, and room service is available. Warung Yeah! was a highlight, a sea-view cafe within walking distance of the hotel at Lagoi Bay. They have a live band on Saturday night, which gives the place a lively feel. At night, the street lighting reaches all the way along the beach, so we could relax on the soft sand by the sea. A great experience.
