Holiday Inn Resort Bintan Lagoi Beach by IHG

The staff went above and beyond to find my child’s favorite toy, which we’d left behind in the room, and arrange to send it all the way to Jakarta. That meant a lot to our family. We had a wonderful, unforgettable year-end family holiday here. Our child loved the large, kid-friendly pool, and the facilities were excellent. The restaurant served delicious food, and the kids’ playroom was impressive. We enjoyed morning walks in the beautifully maintained gardens, and direct beach access was a big plus. We were lucky to have perfect weather too. I don’t usually write reviews, but this thoughtful service deserves appreciation. We’d gladly return and recommend the resort to family and friends.

Housekeeping needs work. There seems to be too few staff, and rooms being cleaned to prepare for new arrivals leaves current guests waiting. I had to call twice a day for urgent service. With so many kids who need afternoon naps, that delay matters. There’s a waste bin in the room and a very small one in the toilet, too small for kids’ diapers. Slow housekeeping also affects room hygiene. The overall pool area is small and mainly for kids. Even one or two big groups can make the pools feel choked. The kids club was disappointing, run down and with no visible maintenance. I was concerned about the water slides outside it: the end is about 3inches above the ground, and with the steel and short ride down, kids may slide beyond the end and land on the ground. The ground is padded, but this could still hurt their tailbone. We stayed off the beach after sand flies bit us. The hotel does provide buggy rides to Plaza Lagoi and the beach. There’s only one restaurant in the hotel, so expect crowds. Staff were polite and helpful overall.

The family game room was our favorite, and the family room was well equipped with direct access to the pool. The pool facilities were great, the spa was good, and breakfast had an excellent variety. Staff were very friendly and ready to help with a smile. The beach is a short walk away, with the entrance near the restaurant. We stayed for three days during an April visit. There’s a free shuttle from the ferry port, and the hotel is fairly new, having opened only 1-2 years ago. Overall, a good experience!

We only had a short window for a quick family getaway, and I’m glad we chose Holiday Inn Resort Bintan. Our stay was worth it. We were a family of five with a young toddler, and everything suited us, from the hotel design and rooms to the service and activities. We picked it for its family-friendly reputation after reading good reviews on social media. The staff were hospitable, the 24H WhatsApp concierge was responsive, and the range of activities kept everyone busy. My one small comment is about a change at the Kids Club. My 3+ year old was too old for the “younger” corner, but not old enough for the “older corner” with playground activities. She ended up spending time in the outdoor section, where the activities suited her better.
