Kamuela Lagoi Bay Villas

We stayed in the Deluxe Suite at Kamuela Villas Bintan for 3D2N. The birthday dinner setup the team arranged in the suite for my husband was beautiful, and the food was delicious. We also paid a small extra fee for floating breakfast in our private pool the next morning, which was lovely. The villa was spacious, clean, and close to the beach, with cafés and restaurants easy to reach near high-end hotels such as Four Points by Sheraton. A couple of things could be better: the air-conditioning wasn’t cold enough, and the lighting felt dim, especially around the vanity, where brighter white lights would help. It was a peaceful stay at a reasonable price, and we left very satisfied.

Wisra, our driver, added a lot to the trip. He explained things clearly and had good suggestions for places to visit, activities and eateries nearby. The villa itself was clean, comfortable and well maintained, and I especially enjoyed the private pool and floating breakfast. Room service was excellent, and the staff even helped me get medicine for diarrhea, which I really appreciated. A few switches didn’t work, and it would be more convenient to have a microwave, cups and basic utensils in the villa. Apart from that, we had a pleasant stay. A good place for a relaxing getaway.

The WhatsApp customer service was consistently quick and helpful, and the location was decent for nearby attractions. Lagoi Plaza has a convenience store about five minutes away, though it closes at 9 PM. I’d arrange a Grab driver for getting around, since the hotel’s transport costs much more. I paid S$146+ per night, a fair rate for a villa, but the cleanliness and upkeep were disappointing. There were food scraps on the patio at check-in, and housekeeping never removed them, even by my fourth-day checkout. There was also a blood stain on the toilet paper when we arrived. The pool had rust, algae and bugs, and was full of insects when I checked in. Housekeeping cleared it promptly after I messaged, but cockroaches kept showing up in the water on later days. I reported the first one on the second night and only used the pool once, even though it was the main reason I chose this villa. I understand villas can have insects, but the overall maintenance fell short.

The room was clean and well kept, with a private pool and an airy, open bathroom. Staff were helpful and friendly. It’s right across from the plaza, near massage places, restaurants and the ocean. Highly recommended.
